7132 Vals – Artbook and Print Editions

In Vals, one takes their time. And in Vals we fell out of time. A true retreat. We had the opportunity to spend several days at the Therme Vals and the “7132” Hotel as part of an “Artist Residency”. This gave us time to open our eyes to the subtleties and roughness of nature and culture that change over time. Beauty changes over time. We discovered this in the rough nature in the surroundings of Vals and in the 60,000 stone slabs of Vals quartzite of the spectacular thermal baths.

For the restaurant “Silver” of the “7132” hotel we created the following printed matter: an art book and art prints. The art book is at the same time the menu card and entertains the guests while they are waiting for the food. The menu is inserted in the middle of the booklet on a paper insert. The book shows the nature around the hotel, rock structures that can be discovered while hiking. The art book is printed on Gmund paper in different shades of gray, reminiscent of the spa, which is made of Vals stone. It is printed with a metallic silver hue.

The art prints show structures from the Therme: deposits created by the mineral substances of the Vals water. They remind us of landscapes. The printing technique is Riso, which makes each print unique.
